Today was really random. Woke up when Kenny called to say "Hey! Wanna go to the zoo today?" LoL! Despite being sleep deprived of a few hours, I got up and went anyway XD
Kenny and the Narrowstreet (NST) kids are planning for this amazing race in Zoo Negara that will be held this Sunday if I'm not mistaken. I tagged along with them to the zoo before. That was last month I think. The last time we were there, we basically took the time to mark down the checkpoints and clues to be used in the race.
Well today was different. I went there as a participant as well as with Sasha and Jon. The NST committee wanted to see how long it would take to figure out their clues to finish the race.
Time wasn't exactly friendly to us coz in the end, Sasha, Jon and I only managed to complete half of their clues before the time is up. I guess NST was forced to cut off some clues short :( Overall, it was tiring but nevertheless a good walk and an interesting experience. It is afterall the ZOO! :D
A few pics I took before we started the race (Yessss!! I recently bought a new camera. I heart Canon!):
The NST committee devicing their strategies/plans for the race having a picnic in front of a souvenir shop.
Sasha having her awesome possum Nelson's corn in the cup and I have nothing else better to do.
Here is Sasha again having a bite out of her CORNYFISH. Hahaha!! It's really called that! The fishy sausage thing had bits of corn inside it. According to her, it's a weird combo and it's a real rip off :P
Just to update from my previous posts, Cheryl and I didn't manage to complete our healthy contracts :(I don't know about Cheryl but mine totally messed up when Kenny offered me to drink a Vitagen (Argh!!!). I innocently took one and had a sip. It wasn't long before I realised something was wrong. Then it hit me. OH O my sweet contract is screwed no thanks to Kenny. LoL. Anyway, me and Cheryl are NOT going for his dance class thing. Truth to be told, it's really something we can never muster our courage to do. Oh well.
Okie dokie. I better hit the sack soon. There's rehearsal tomorrow. On another note, I'm still craving for more walks in the park. The air is seriously so refreshing. I'm so in love with it ^.^ If I ever marry a rich good looking dude, I'm gonna ask for a house that comes with a Japanese garden or something with those nice pathways so I can walk all night.
In case you're wondering, NO. This blog is not dead (yet) so long as I'm still alive with my beating heart.
I just haven't had the time to write in :( You can say I have time to go on Facebook or MSN and all but the thing is, when I write, I don't write for the sake of writing. I write because I want to. For example, like now. Or MAYBE it's coz Alex said to me "Why do you have a blog when you don't update it?" LoL. Plus, Jit Hon popped out of no where with "Omgggggg!!!! Update your blog @!!!@!!" Geez! What happened to saying a simple Hi first? Now that I've mentioned it, I think that somewhat triggered my ego to write something here now. Haha.
Since my last ancient entry, alot has happened in the past months. Obviously. Been so busy I don't even have time to rest well. Sigh. Busy with what you may ask? DUMC & SIB KL Christmas Production 2010 :D Yesh!! We ended up collaborating and let me just tell you what a blessing it is to have the DUMC peeps on board with us this year. I can only speak of the joy of knowing wonderful people, the excellent spirit of teamwork and of course, an abundance of brilliant talent when I think of DUMC.
The ultimate challenge for me has been managing my time with the production and my studies. Murdoch degree course is really not something to be taken lightly of! It's filled with so much lengthy words that I can take up hours just to understand a few pages of journals! But having said all that, God has been faithful and merciful to me that I cannot be more thankful. Sometimes the littlest things that I tend to take for granted help me to get through more than I can imagine. His blessings come in all forms. All glory be to God!
Oh and for the record, I've been driving alot these days. Nothing much to say except that I'm such a noob at parking. Seriously -.-" So embarassing to take so much time just to park. Ish. At least I'm not a danger to the public that gets honked at all the time :D
Ok. That's all I shall write for now. Will try to write a more detailed version of my hectic life and other nonsense next time. Byeeeeee.
Say.. don't you think the weather is so beautiful today? Especially after how the rain has cleared the skies and cleaned the pathways in the park. Loving the cold wind that sweeps through ^.^ The fresh air tonight is absolutely breathtaking!
I can't wait to walk in the park later.
*Skips around like a little girl in pig tails*
Eugene recently inherited an Apple Macbook from his sister and decided to bring it for meeting. It was a jealous sight because that made Cheryl and I the only ones not having one! Ronny and Kenny each has a Macbook too! The world is truly unfair :(
So there it was at the table. Three Apple Macbooks rubbing in the faces of Cheryl's and mine. Upon staring at the trio Apple products at our meeting table, Cheryl lamely said to me, we'll bring oranges next time. I played along the lameness and replied her that we should bring pears as well. LOL!
After I opened with a word of prayer, Eugene started to blurt out about having a bowling outing together. I was really against his idea. If you must know, I'm terrible at this game. Somehow (Don't ask me how. I don't know how), I always end up bowling the ball right into the drain. Furthermore, I never did quite like or understood the game fully.
Thankfully, the rest were more or less on the same side as me. They suck in bowling as well. Yay! :D That was until it struck Kenny to say "Nevermind la.. we can play and suck together!" In the context of this polluted and delusional world we live in, that totally sound WRONG if you get what I'm trying to say here. Obviously, the outing didn't even make it to the planning process after what happened. Haha!
During the meeting, Kenny also gave each and everyone of us a huge ring file so that we can organize our notes neatly. The only problem is that, these ring files required a hole puncher for our notes and none of us had one at that time. Ronny let out a sigh of disappointment as he thought it was useless to keep the file there and then. Sounding annoyed, Kenny just replied his elder brother, "Punch yourself la." There was a millisecond of silence before Ronny shrug it off by saying "Err?? No thanks! Why would I want to do such a thing to myself?" LoL. Right then, Cheryl and I just burst out in laughter.
The night ended with supper in Old Town White Coffee at Jaya One :D It was only the three of us (Cheryl, Kenny and I) because Ronny needed to go home and rest for work the next day and Eugene also had the same excuse but topped with football! Marcus later on then joined in for supper :)
For Cheryl and I, it was The Last Supper for the both of us as we were about to embark on a journey of living a healthy lifestyle for a month. Starting from today onwards! ^.^
The other day, I asked Cheryl's opinion on the idea of just committing to a healthy lifestyle for a month because I felt so sluggish and lazy just being at home and the fact that I was inspired to do so after doing a devotion on the temptation of Jesus from the book of Matthew. *bangga* LoL. Cheryl thought it was a great idea and agreed to be my accountability partner. Yay! So we both agreed to officially launch this ultimate lifestyle on the 7th of July 2010 simply because I like the number 7 XD Until yesterday when we were on the way to Old Town, Cheryl mentioned she gained weight while she was ill D: The solution? She decided to hop in to my boat and endure this together.
Look! It's official. We even signed contracts!
Haha! Basically, Cheryl will keep me accountable for the stuff that I promise to do and vice versa. Our punishment is hilarious! Should we fail to do any of the things we've listed, we are to attend Kenny's dance class! I repeat: ATTEND KENNY'S DANCE CLASS. LoL!!! Talk about embarrassment, I reckon I'll be breaking a bone instead of breaking a move!
Don't mind the handwriting! Our contracts were written in a hurry on my notebook because Kenny was getting really tired and he was fetching me home. But we still managed to signed it off in time before making a move :D
So yes! As you can clearly see, I've built up a month's worth of defence wall against the perils of obesity plus other health problems and whatnots! XD It was an excellent decision made if I must say so myself because recently, Daddy came home with a box that contained a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts and 5 more of these generic letters:
All I can say is THANK GOODNESS for the contract! Thanks Cheryl for doing this with me. I really appreciate it. Haha :) We're bound to experience a roller coaster ride of temptations!
Just thought I'll say it out loud here for a friend.
HAPPY 23RD BIRTHDAY RANDY!!! :)
I just realized I don't have a photo with you. So please forgive me for stealing your Facebook profile picture that I personally think you look best in and which unfortunately enough, happens to be slightly blur.
Dear Randy,
If you happen to stumble upon this post by chance, I would like to wish you a blessed birthday on your special day today ^.^ I'm aware that we haven't been as close as friends ever since I decided to go back to work :( but I just thought you should know that, it is such a blessing to know you since day one. You're definitely one of the most realistic person I know in life which to me, defines who you really are- A true friend. Thank you for being there for me when I need someone to talk to or just hang out with. I'm sure you know that you crack me all the time by just being who you are :D May the good Lord shower you with an abundance of blessings in your life. Once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :)
Having an ulcer the size of a chocolate chip taking refuge under your tongue is really not cool I tell you. It's as good as eating a stiletto sharp needle together with your meals. Every single bite and chew just seems to prick my already sore appetite :( As such, I've made it a priority to strengthen my acquaintance with a useful chemical substance known none other than Water :D
Water hasn't exactly been whetting my appetite if you know what I mean but it definitely is healing the ulcer! =P I trust that everyone knows my reliable friend very well in their daily lives. No? Well, I don't know about you but my friendship with Water has been overflowingly good to the extent that I've made it a priority to have drinking sessions with Water without fail everyday. It's just a matter of time for my tummy to burst open one day. I fear.
Even my family knows Water well enough to spend time with it on our vacation!
This photo of ours was taken donkey years ago at some resort pool if I'm not mistaken. As you can clearly see above, I haven't exactly made much of a friend with Water yet as I still needed to protect myself against it with a float. Just in case it swallows me up for precaution sake. Ah the good old times XD
Seeing Daddy here reminds me of something. Just the other day, Daddy got really mad at me because he conveniently claimed that I've spoiled his camera. If you want my advice, let me tell you that being the last person to use anything is NOT a good idea. You get blamed for practically everything! As if being the eldest child in the family is not bad enough.
In my defence, that one and only camera he was using is reaching 10 years of age as of this year and it's so bulky! I can bet your camera phone has more megapixels than it! I'm sure it was about time for the camera to go and that I didn't spoil it. Ok or maybe I accidentally did some damage to it. I don't know :( But until today, our family has no camera. I don't think we're buying one anytime soon either because there are more important stuff to pay off first. Thus, I've been scanning in photos (like our family photo above), print screen-ing and stealing pictures from Facebook for this blog.
To be honest, I feel really bad that I unintentionally ruined Daddy's camera. I didn't get anything special for him for Father's Day this year but if I had enough, I will not hesitate to get him a brand new camera. Specifically, the new Cyber-shot TX5 from SONY.
It's such an awesome camera that I literally will run around in circles and scream at the top of my lungs if I'm ever made a proud owner of it.
I've seen the real deal before. Xue Rou has one and the second she took it out of her bag, I couldn't stop staring at it's glory of being the ‘World’s Slimmest Water-proof Camera.’ What more, even holding the precious gem worth about RM1500 in my hands. You can take my word, it is THAT magnificent of a camera.
Now, I'm usually not really an enthusiast when it comes to high-tech gadgets and things like that but this particular SONY camera right here got me studying it like a nerd. Instantly! =D
Generally, the SONY T-Series Cyber-shot TX5 has:
10.2 Megapixels
4x Optical Zoom
FIVE(5) shades of colours! That is, Red, Green, Grey, Pink and of course the common, Black :)
A closer look at this sleek camera and you'll be impressed for what more it has installed! I personally think Daddy will like the Black one XD
This 17.7mm slim camera body defines never judge a book by its cover for it proves to be just about all types of proof you can think of for a camera. Check this out!
Water-proof (up to 3 m deep)
Shock-proof(allows to be dropped from a height of 1.5 m)
Temperature-proof(down to -10 ̊ Celcius)
Dust-proof (resistance to dust for spotless images in any environment)
Did I mention that it's also touch screen? Yup, thereis no more fuss with tiny buttons. Just tap the large, 3.0" wide touch screen display to review your photos and videos in vivid color. It even works underwater. With this, you can enjoy shooting breathtaking photos on land and underwater. Seriously, how cool is that?!
Of course, that's not the end of its goodness yet!
It blows my mind to know an abundant amount of technology intelligence has been compressed in this compact camera. Here is what I mean.
1. “Exmor R” CMOS Sensor
-For beautiful low-light images.
2. BIONZ Image Processor
-For natural and vibrant images.
3. 25mm wide angle Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar lens
-For realistic photos with excellent contrast.
4. Handheld Twilight
- This mode allows the camera to capture 6 images in a fraction of a second with one press of the shutter. It then combines the data from all 6 images to create a single image of extraordinary detail and low noise.
5. Intelligent Sweep Panorama
- This mode allows the camera to shoot at a high-speed burst of frames by sweeping the camera horizontally to create stunning landscape shots, or vertically to capture tall objects. It also recognizes faces or subject movement automatically and cleverly stitches the photos together to create one amazing panoramic image.
6. Anti-motion Blur
- This mode uses 6 superimposed frames to create one single optimised image with 50% less noise. This means you are able to shoot with high ISO settings in low-light environments, reducing noise and subject blur, giving you clear and sharp images.
7. Takes 10 Photos in 1 Second
- Capture fast actions or a moving subject in a sequence of 10 continuous frames per second. This sequence of continuous shots are also grouped to simplify playback as the camera analyzes each group in order to locate and display the best shot automatically.
No doubt SONY's Cyber-shot TX5 is extremely brilliant and fascinatingly amazing!
Come to think of it, imagine all the photography possibilities we can achieve with this camera. One thing for sure, I know our family photos will never be the same again seeing the fact that we can now snap photos underwater. I can already see the fun we'll be having! XD I'm picturing our future family photos will turn out something like this:
Ooh!! I can even catch my best friend, Water swimming in action!
I'm absolutely looking forward to take shots of God's wonderful creations with the Intelligent Sweep Panorama mode. Waterfall! =D
Who cares about the weather and lighting with an indestructible camera like the Sony Cyber-shot TX5? I know I wouldn't care less and go dancing in the rain with it XD
Not forgetting, to live up every moment of what life has to offer. I'd love to capture the ray of sunlight that shines through the garden every morning!
♥ This one is for you Dad! :)
With some technology love,
Melissa

Apparently, not everyone has an abundance of patience like you do to tolerate with long-winded stuff. So do you remember what you'd learnt in Ms Maha's Advertising class? The KISS Principle. Keep It Short and Simple (or Keep it short, stupid!). Yes? No? Well, this time write something straight to the point and NOT a storybook of your life k?
Okay. BUT I WON'T PROMISE YOU THERE WON'T BE ANY MORE LONG POSTS. I mean what's the point of unlimited space then?
Fair enough. Just cut some slack on the world's critics and spare your short attention span readers some mercy :)
Deal. Here goes.
I really wasn't kidding when I said: God answers our prayers. Even the littlest ones.
Because praise the good Lord! My insurance exam has been postponed to next Monday!!! *happy happy joy joy!* =D Why am I taking such an exam you may ask? Kindly refer to my previous post titled Jojo: 26th June 2010. Ok if you're too lazy to read, I'm basically studying about insurance to make good use of my free time and I might consider taking this up as a part-time job or something in the near future.
Oh and just so you know, I'll be sitting for two papers namely, the Pre Contract Examination for Insurance Agents (PCEIA) and the Certificate Examination in Investment-Linked Life Insurance (CEILI) =/
I've never felt so relieved since I stopped working because there was no possible way I can study the textbooks in time! But God made a way!
Hebrews 4:16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
Thank you God for hearing that little cry in my heart. You're truly AWESOME!
I don't know where in the world I have been all this while only to find out a few of the most incredible vocals and covers I've ever heard have been right here all along.
For Good(from Wicked the musical)
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a hand print on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend...
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I've done you blame me for
But then, I guess we know
There's blame to share
And none of it seems to matter anymore
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood
Who can say if I've been
Changed for the better?
I do believe I have been
Changed for the better
And because I knew you...
Because I knew you...
Because I knew you...
I have been changed for good.
Fireflies (by Owl City)
You would not believe your eyes
If ten million fireflies
Lit up the world as I fell asleep
Cause they fill the open air
And leave teardrops everywhere
You'd think me rude, but I
Would just stand and stare.
I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly.
It's hard to say that I'd
Rather stay awake when I'm asleep,
Cause everything is never as it seems.
Cause I'd get a thousand hugs
From ten thousand lightning bugs
As they tried to teach me how to dance.
A foxtrot above my head,
A sock-hop beneath my bed,
The disco ball is just hanging by a thread.
I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly.
It's hard to say that I'd
Rather stay awake when I'm asleep,
Cause everything is never as it seems.
(When I fall asleep.)
Keep my door open just a crack.
(Please take me away from here.)
Cause I feel like such an insomniac.
(Please take me away from here.)
Why do I tire of counting sheep?
(Please take me away from here.)
When I'm far too tired to fall asleep
To ten million fireflies.
I'm weird, cause I hate goodbyes
I got misty eyes as they said farewell
But I'll know where several are
If my dreams get real bizarre
Cause I saved a few,
And I keep them in a jar.
I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly.
It's hard to say that I'd
Rather stay awake when I'm asleep,
Cause everything is never as it seems.
(When I fall asleep.)
I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly.
It's hard to say that I'd
Rather stay awake when I'm asleep,
Cause everything is never as it seems.
(When I fall asleep.)
I'd like to make myself believe
That planet Earth turns slowly.
It's hard to say that I'd
Rather stay awake when I'm asleep
Because my dreams are bursting at the seams
Tik Tok(Kesha)
Don’t stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, I’mma fight
‘Til we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don’t stop no
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Wake up in the morning feeling like P Diddy
Grab my glasses on, I’m out the door - I’m gonna hit this city
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack
Cause when I leave for the night, I ain’t coming back
I’m talking - pedicure on our toes, toes
Trying on all our clothes, clothes
Boys blowing up our phones, phones
Drop-topping ya, playing our favorite cds
Pulling up to the parties
Trying to get a little bit tipsy
Don’t stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, I’mma fight
‘Til we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don’t stop no
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
You build me up
You break me down
My heart, it pounds
Yeah, you got me
With my hands up
You got me now
You gotta that sound
Yea, you got me
You build me up
You break me down
My heart, it pounds
Yeah, you got me
With my hands up
Put your hands up
Put your hands up
Put your hands up
Cos the party don’t start until I walk in
Don’t stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, I’mma fight
‘Til we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don’t stop no
Oh oh oh
Oh oh oh
Don’t stop, make it pop
DJ, blow my speakers up
Tonight, I’mma fight
‘Til we see the sunlight
Tick tock, on the clock
But the party don’t stop no
